Catalan Wikipedia ranked third in quality

The Catalan Wikipedia has now more than 175.000 articles.

The Catalan Wikipedia (Viquipèdia) is growing steadily both in number of articles and  quality. If just a few months ago surpassed the 175.000 articles, now it has obtained the third place in a ranking that evaluates the excellence of the Wikipedias written in all the different languages, just after the English and the German versions. This achievement comes as the result of an spectacular development carried out during the last year and  leaded by a planed Wikiproject to improve the quality of the main 1.000 articles that every Wikipedia should have and that are used to evaluate the quality and fairness of any given Wikipedia.

This success is just another evidence of the good health of the Catalan language in the digital world, where Catalan volunteers and entrepreneurs  use their language freely and without any complex, and find a place where it is easier to blur state boundaries and overcome political and legal impediments.
