This site is intended to be an open window to current affairs in Catalonia, specially those related to its daily politics, economy and culture.
The Catalan community in Internet is very active and, considering the dimension of our nation, the number of Catalan sites and blogs is comparable to that of other nations that largely outnumber us. However, since they are mainly aimed at Catalans, very few of these sites are written in English. Thus, this blog is not only aimed at Catalans but also and specially to anyone who has interest in Catalonia and wants to know about us directly in English.
At the same time, this is intended to be a small and modest step to help internationalise the Catalan reality, which is something we have -so far- almost forgotten. As former Catalan president Jordi Pujol says, if a country is to be known and is to function as a part of this world then international projection is needed.
But this blog is not exclusively about Catalonia. Together with Catalan-related posts the visitor will also find information about others stateless nations, with which Catalonia might share common goals, threats, challenges and opportunities. I believe this will help to understand other realities and share ideas between communities which despite the physical distance might have many things in common.
Finally, I’d like to encourage readers to leave their comments, no matter they agree or disagree with the opinions posted in this blog. And remember you can add Cataloniablog’s RSS feed to your RSS reader!
Thanks for reading this site and have a great day!
